Hi dancers, and welcome to The Reel Deal!
In this new series of blog posts, we’ll dive into mindset, planning, training, and all things Irish dance. I’m really excited to share this with you and hope you find something valuable or discover a new idea to incorporate into your dance routine. Please note that the content here is based on my personal experiences and insights from various sources throughout my dance career. While I strive to offer useful and accurate information, I have no formal education in sports psychology. My goal is to share some of my knowledge and experience, and I thought this would be a fun and productive way to stay connected with you all while I’m away for the semester!
As I mentioned, some of the things we’ll be talking about are mindset, planning, and training. Many of these things can be helpful to dancers of all ages and skill levels. That said, this year’s competition calendar is busy, with many dancers gearing up to compete for the first time or tackle new levels and dances. Because of this, some posts will be catered specifically towards competitive dancers. However, I believe that even the advice meant for competitors can offer insights and benefits for those involved in recreational dance. So, whether you’re gearing up for a competition or just enjoying dance for fun, there’s something here for everyone!
Every Monday, a new post will be available for you to check out. At the bottom of each post, you'll find a link to a Google Form where you can ask questions, suggest future topics, or just drop me a note! You don’t have to fill out every field—just share whatever you want. If you prefer to remain anonymous, you can do so, or you can choose to provide your name. I’ll address any questions from this week in the following week’s post!
I’m excited to share my first post next Monday, September 23!
See you there,
Julia
